Nicaragua - Ometepe Schools Projects

Ometepe Schools Project & The Feeding Program

In 2004 and 2005 Netman installed computer systems in the Christian Vocational Centre (CVC) on the island. This proved to be a complete success providing the older teenagers with vocational studies that would result in a recognised qualification.

The largest portion of computers were donated by Swarty Community Collage, Cambridgeshire, England. All the computers and monitors were taken to Nicaragua by hand as part of our luggage. Network switches were also donated so that the computer suite could be networked together.

Mr. Jeremy joined Netman in 2006 and our work expanded from the CVC to the local schools. We could now provide schools books and utensils for the less well off schools on the island. It was great having Mr. Jeremy on board. At last count we now have 5 schools that we support.

In 2007 Hazel joined the team along with Alison (AKA Ellison) and now also Paul from Marshall Aerospace, Cambridge. We took games for the playground some of which were embarrassingly demonstrated by Mr. Jeremy and Netman. The picture shows the Parachute game which promotes teamwork and co-operation.

As part of our stay on the island we visit the 'Feeding Program'. This proves to be a very emotional event. The children that attend do not have much in the way of personal possessions or food. The feeding program provides the children with a high calcium and protein milk twice a week. We also try to take the children a toy for themselves when we visit.
